Parade Kids

Parade Portland will offer numerous activities for the younger generations to participate and enjoy Parade, with parallel programs for younger and older children. Not only are the city opportunities endless (OMSI, Zoo, Museums), the activities being planned by the committee are sure to make Parade a fun experience for the entire family.

If you plan for your child to attend Parade Kids events, you must pre-register. Each pre-registered Parade Kid will receive a t-shirt and a goodie bag when you stop by our Parade Kids Registration table. Parents must accompany your child at registration to update your hotel and cell phone information.

We are arranging to have an independent contractor, Creative Childcare Solutions, Inc., provide childcare at the Red Lion Hotel during the Concours and Victory Banquets (Monday and Friday evenings). The registration for childcare during these banquets will be on their website (www.munchkincare.com).

Some of the events have a fee that must be pre-paid at the time of pre-Parade registration. If we do not have enough chaperones or participants, some of these activities may be cancelled and your pre-paid fees will be returned to you.

An informal welcome reception will be held from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm just before the Parade Portland Welcome Reception.  The Parade Kids reception is an opportunity for our kids and teens to meet and get to know each other before the week of activities begins.

Oregon Zoo Trip

Children under 6 years of age must be accompanied by a parent.  Leave Red Lion Hotel at 12:15pm (no lunch provided), and return about 4:45pm.  Trip includes round-trip coach transportation to the zoo, group tours, and a ride on the zoo train.  This event is limited to 52 participants.

Parade Kids Autocross

$10  for Parade Kids Autocross T- shirts

This event will be in the morning and run concurrent with, and at the same location as, the adult autocross.  Permissible “vehicles” are limited to strollers; skates; bikes; skateboards; tennis shoes; scooters and motorized/battery operated kiddie cars (NO gas-type Karts). We will use the information you provided above to determine tee shirt size by participant.

Two events are planned for Thursday afternoon – one especially for pre-teens and one especially for teens.  The event destinations are in the same proximity in southeast Portland, and we intend to take only one coach for transportation.  Therefore, the aggregate total of participants for both events will be limited to 52.

Children under 6 years of age must be accompanied by a parent.  This amusement park is especially fun for younger children (teens don’t find much interest here).  Leave Red Lion Hotel at 12:30pm (no lunch provided) and return about 5:00pm.  Trip includes round-trip coach transportation and a “bracelet” for unlimited rides. (Miniature golf, carnival games, and children go-karts are priced separately)

Willamette Jet Boat Excursion

This event caters to teens – it is an exciting ride and no seats are guaranteed to be dry!  The excursion lasts two hours and explores the history, wildlife, and water falls on the Willamette River from downtown Portland to Oregon City.  Leave Red Lion Hotel at 12:30pm (no lunch provided) and return about 5:00pm. The trip includes round-trip coach transportation to the jet boat docks as well as the river excursion.
