Tech Quiz
The
2006 Parade Portland
Tech Quiz is
designed to test your
knowledge of all things Porsche. We'll challenge you to come up with
the
correct answers to a broad range of True-and-False and Multiple-choice
questions
about our favorite marque and its history, PCA, and most importantly,
the
Porsches you love to drive.
We
know that many of you shy away from the
Tech
Quiz because you hate taking tests, but this isn't like high school or
college;
there's no "pass-fail" to worry about!
We aim to make our Tech Quiz an enjoyable and
educational experience. Sure,
the
"experts" will always do well, but that's where the Tie-Breaker
section comes in. Before
the Tech Quiz
begins, we'll share some test-taking secrets sure to help boost your
scores,
and what's more, we'll publish the questions and answers to ALL
sections on our
website afterward, so you can soak up information about models you may
not be
familiar with.
Parade Portland has come up with a hundred challenging, yet entertaining questions drawn from a broad range of Porsche literature, plus 20 additional Tie-breakers. Test your knowledge of Porsche’s colorful history, on and off the track, plus details of Porsche's many wonderful vehicles. We want all of you to do well and have fun, so if you want to take home a trophy, start reviewing your Porsche's Owner's Manuals, back issues of Panorama and Upfixin', Excellence Was Expected, and the many other widely-available books about our favorite ride.
Schedule:
The Tech Quiz will take place on Friday, August 11, 2006, in the Grand Ballroom of the Parade Headquarters Red Lion Hotel. Check-in will be at 7:00 am, with the Quiz starting at 8:00 am. There will be no late admissions. The Quiz duration will be two hours. Provisional results will be posted in the Hospitality Suite as soon as scoring has been completed and any protests are resolved per the PCRs (G-9).
Classes:
Awards:
Each class will receive separate trophies for men and women, as prescribed by the PCRs (G-11), and there will be an overall highest score award for both men and women. The number of trophies per class will depend on the number of entrants for that particular class, as prescribed by the PCRs.

Although this is a competitive event, and prizes will be awarded, I'd like you to think of this as less a test of knowledge than an educational exercise. If you know your car, and have spent a bit of time familiarizing yourself with Porsche's fascinating history, you'll do well. And here's a freebie in advance: Count on being asked the correct ignition firing order of your car's engine!
