We are very fortunate to have Portland International Raceway (home of the Champ Car and ALMS races) located inside the Portland City limits, and only two minutes away from the host hotel. With such a tremendous resource this close by, we had to find ways to utilize it fully. So here's one of the events that we came up with:

TOYO Drag Races and Cruise-In Night at PIR
Just when you thought Parade Portland was a bit different, we are giving you the opportunity to make it totally different. On Wednesday night, August 9^th, we are going to join the weekly Beaches Cruise In at Portland International Raceway. Let’s show all those American hot rodders how cool some shiny German sheet metal can look! 

You will have to arrive at PIR (under 2 miles from the Red Lion) before 6:00 P.M. in order to join the Porsche corral in the reserved, front-and-center location. Latecomers will have to park with the rest of the field. The Cruise In runs until 10 P.M. Food is available at the Beaches Restaurant and Cascade Concessions food stands. There will be a band, and assorted forms of entertainment.

Parade Portland has been given a special rate admission rate of $5.00 per car, payable at the gate. You will be given a Parade Portland coupon that will qualify you for the discounted rate, no matter what car you drive. 

Drag racing anyone? Maybe just sitting around with your car is a bit on the tame side. Local area drag racers will be conducting 1/8^th mile bracket races that evening, and special categories will be offered for Parade Portland Porches. Note: If you are going to drag race, don’t park in the Porsche corral, as you might not be able to get out easily.

For anyone not aware of bracket racing, it’s a bit tricky. You have to know how much time it will take your car to cover the track from a standing start. If you finish faster than the bracket you have chosen you are disqualified.

Pro            ( 6.00 – 8.99 )         $30 plus $10 registration
Super Pro  ( 4.50 – 7.79 )          $35 plus $10 registration

Required Equipment:
Street Cars: Helmet Snell 2000 or newer.  Non-Street Cars:  Helmet Snell 2000 or newer, Windows or Nets in cars without windows and padding on roll bars where Helmets could come in contact with the roll bar.
