August 23, 2006: Results and Gallery pages are ready for your enjoyment!
I have pretty much completed the uploading of content to the Gallery and Results pages of the website. The Gallery will have somewhere between 1500-2000 photos by the time Ron (Parade Photographer) is done in the next couple of weeks. Additionally, there are 18 short video clips (a first for the Parade web sites) of various Parade activities and events.  All of the event results submitted to me from the event chairs have been converted to PDF files and posted for download.  These are available from the left navigation bar on the results page.

Well, this is probably my last posting to this web site. As my first Parade, it was a very interesting and enjoyable experience. I hope that you enjoy all of the content and information posted here.  See you in San Diego, July 1-5, 2007!

August 11, 2006:
Parade Finale'

Well, a 2 year journey to this night is now over.  A week ago, after enduring the work that it took to get ready for Parade, I was wondering if it was worth it.  Now I have the answer, and you can bet that I will be at Parade next year!  Of course, I am really looking forward to experiencing Parade in San Diego as something other than a committee chair :-).  San Diego looks like it will be an experience not to be missed.

All of the final event detailed results are now posted to the results page except Concours.  The Concours scoring person is working on cleaning up the data; I should have that available in a couple of days. There will also be several more postings over the next couple of weeks; Zone Challenge and Perpetual awards, and huge number of additional photos from the Parade photographers.  You will be able to download the photos at the full, original resolution.  Additionally, I have about 2 hours of video clips to go through and edit; these will be available for download from the gallery page (several are already available).

Watch this page over the next few weeks for notices as content is added.  Tonight, instead of staying up late to add more content to the web site, I am going to find my way down to the bar..

See you in San Diego!

August 10, 2006:
Autocross Day 2

I have posted the final rally and gimmick rally results, and several hundred photos from Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Complete autocross results should be posted sometime Friday.  Several of you have not picked up your awards for concours and rally; they will be available at the Goodie Store tomorrow.

August 09, 2006:
Autocross Day 1

I have posted the MS-PowerPoint slides of the concours awards; we will get a more detailed set of concours results on the web later.  I have also posted the preliminary Rally results (MS-Excel spread sheet). You can download both of these from the results page.  More photos keep pouring in; I now have close to 1,000 photos to go through and I hear that the official photographers have a similar number; so we will be organizing, editing and posting photos for the next several weeks..

August 08, 2006:
Rally Day

I drove my first TSD rally today, but had the luck to get a very experienced navigator, Lester Checel to guide me through the process.  Lester lost his experienced ride just a few days before Parade started, so I got to drive with the benefit of a navigator with that has done 36 (yes, 36!) previous parade rallys. We ended up with a very respectable score; and it would have been much better if I would have listened to Lester more clearly on leg #4 where I took off too quickly from a transit zone and got caught immediately around the corner by a check point...

August 07, 2006:
Concours Day

Standing on one of the fairway elevations of Heron Lakes golf course offered an amazing view of Concours and the Parade Paddock on Monday morning.  I had the pleasure of video taping Peter Linsky discussing many of the cars in the historic display with their owners and I also captured several of the concours presentations and awards on video. These will be posted to the web when I have time to edit and compress the video.  Additionally, several individuals have submitted LOTS of photos (over 500 so far) and I haven't even started to gather photos from the official photographers yet.  Thanks to Greg Phillips, Bill and Carree Moore, and Bill Shaw for submitting their photos and video.  It is going to take awhile to organize and upload the photos and video, but I will get some on the web real soon.

August 06, 2006:
Parade is here!

The first day of Parade is here and the Porsche Night has just finished up.  It is truly amazing to simply walk the parking lot at Red Lion and marvel at the collection of Porsche Cars parked here.  We will be posting photos and some amateur video (shot by the Webmaster on a digital camera) of the Parade activities through out the week under the Gallery Tab, so take a look occasionally and you might even find a picture of you or your car!  The video files are very large, so don't open them unless you have a high speed connection.  The first video to be posted is of the Parade Committee trying to sing and dance at tonights dinner!

We will also be posting results from the competitions as soon as they are available.  Check under the results tab for this during the week.

BE SURE to visit the message board as many are using it to post items of interest (ahem..semi-private parties that I will have to crash).  Concours day tomorrow; I will grab some video of the historic display and post it tomorrow night for those who couldn't attend.

July 30, 2006:
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup and Pilor PS2 Tire Comparison:

Michelin Tire Company is bringing back the "Try Me" driving exercise that has been a favorite event of past Parades.  In past years, Michelin has offered Parade participants a chance to bolt a set of Pilot Sport Cup tires to our Porsches and test the performance advantage offered by their DOT street-legal competition tire on the Parade autocross course.  Well, for Parade Portland, this exercise just got better.

With the support of PCNA, Michelin will provide two identical Porsche Caymans fitted with the Pilot Sport PS2 and the Pilot Sport Cup tires.  For two days, we will have the opportunity to drive the PS2 tire first and then compare the grip and handling advantage offered by their Pilot Sport Cup competition tire.

Michelin invites PCA members to join them at the Michelin Tractor Trailer on Wednesday and Thursday during the Michelin Autocross and see first hand why they vow Michelin tires are a Better Way Forward (and around corners in a Porsche)!

Emory's Parts Obsolete Campout and Swap Meet

Emory's will be hosting their annual Parts Obsolete Campout the weekend before Parade. It was rescheduled to the weekend that leads into Porsche Parade so it will be a great pre-Parade event. You will be able to camp out at Parts Obsolete August 4-6 and then head to Portland for Parade. Emory's is located close to McMinnville, Oregon which is about 1 hour from the Parade headquarters. What a great 1-2 punch!  More information..

July 21, 2006:
 Entrants Bringing a TRAILER

Please consider volunteering to work at Parade Portland or signing up for an additional four hour work session. Parade Portland needs people to work shifts every day from Aug. 5th through August 11th from 8am to Noon or Noon to 4pm to insure the security of the autocross trailers. Parade Portland is using two grassy fields (totaling about seven acres) just outside the entry to Portland International Raceway (about 1 mile from the Red Lion Hotel, the headquarter hotel) for trailer parking. This area will be primarily autocross trailers but will include some Concours trailers. We have contracted with a security firm to cover the site from 4pm until 8am August 5th through the 12th and need volunteer workers to cover the day shift. The field is gated and surrounded by a barrier fence. The Volunteer Workers would staff the entry/exit gate and would radio for assistance if noticing unauthorized people in the area.  More information..

July 20, 2006: REMINDER FOR ALL ENTRANTS WITH JUNIOR PARTICIPATION PROGRAM (JPP) In order for 16/17 year old sons/daughter of PCA members to participate in Parade events, two (2) additional forms must be completed. The first form, Minor’s Assumption of Risk Acknowledgment, must be completed and witnessed at Parade. The second form, Parental Consent, Release, and Waiver of Liability, Assumption of risk, and Indemnity Agreement, must be signed by BOTH parents. If both parents are NOT going to attend Parade Portland, please get this second form completed, including witness, and bring it to Parade Portland. We will have both forms at Parade Portland. Also, both forms are available at www.pca.org.  More information..

July 18, 2006:
2006 PCA Membership renewals REQUIRED (updated on 7/23/2006)

According to PCA National, If the PCA membership of the Entrant and/or Co-Entrant will expire prior to Parade Portland, you will not be allowed to register at Parade. So, check the renewal dates on your membership and renew your PCA membership NOW if they expire before the end of August. You will not be allowed to register at Parade Portland if your PCA dues have expired. More information..

July 14, 2006: Parade Paddock Update
Reminder to those of you signed up for the Parade Paddock--The Parade Paddock is NOT a parking spot for people wanting to attend the Concours. Rather the Parade Paddock is a high caliber "shine and show" display being held in conjunction with the Porsche Concours d' Elegance. Porsches will be staged between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM on Monday 8/7/06. Staging times will be given to the entrant during registration.  All cars will be in place by 10:00 AM, and CANNOT LEAVE before 2:00 PM.  More information..

You will need to register with Google Groups in order to post to the board (no fee for this), but anyone can read messages. If you need to communicate with a committee chair, please email them directly (see Contacts tab), but if you want to post a public message for anyone to read, then feel free to use the message board!  More information..
