Streamlining the Registration Process

Parade Portland will take the next big step in PCA’s efforts to streamline the registration process for all. For the first time, registration will be a one-step process. You will not have to first register for Parade, and then later register for each of the Parade activities. Instead, you will register for everything at the same time, including your hotel reservations. And, all this can be done online, using PCA’s new online one-step electronic registration system that has been expressly designed to streamline the process. But keep one thing in mind. To register online, you must be a registered user on the PCA website. If you aren’t already, register right away, as it will take 24 hours for your registration to become effective.

Online registration proved itself last year, and it is the quickest and easiest way to register. But, if you are uncomfortable with that, you can register the old way, by U.S. Mail. Simply click on the registration tab above, download and print the registration form, fill it in, and mail it on or after the opening of registration. If you do not have Internet access, simply contact the Parade Portland Registrars, James and Jean Ohl, at (360) 852-4645, or at Registrar@paradeportland.org, and request that they send you a paper registration form.   Requests for paper registration forms will be accepted starting February 19, 2006.

Note: we will regularly use email to communicate with registrants, so if you have a spam/junk mail blocker, please include Registrar@paradeportland.org in you approved email list for your blocking software.

The Official Start

Opening day for registration will be Friday, March 10, 8Am EST, 2006.  As always, our rules aim to give everyone an even chance of being accepted by prohibiting early registration. Online registration will be enabled at 8:00 a.m. Eastern time, at the PCA Registration Site. Mailed registration forms must be postmarked March 10, 2006 or later to be considered for acceptance – any forms postmarked earlier will be rejected. But there is no reason to get into a frantic rush. All online registrations made at any time on March 10, and all paper registrations postmarked on March 10, will be deemed to have been submitted at the same exact time, so take your time and register leisurely at any convenient time on March 10. In case of over subscription, the formula in the Region Procedures Manual (available at PCA.org) will be used to determine the acceptance of entries.

Registration Fees

The registration fee for Parade Portland is $150, and covers basic admittance to Parade Portland for the entrant, a co-entrant, and one car. Additional fees will apply for banquet tickets and various selected activities.

The co-entrant can be an unaffiliated PCA member, but they must share the same car with a single registration fee. If an entrant chooses to enter more than one car, a separate registration fee must be paid for each car. The only exception to this rule is that, if the registered Porsche is not legal for street use, a second Porsche may be registered for use in the rally only, with no additional fee required.

The registration fee is required even if you do not enter a competitive event.

Payment

To use the online registration you must pay the registration fee by VISA, MASTERCARD or AMEX.  With mail-in registration we will accept a check or money order, in U.S. funds, payable to Parade Portland, or VISA, MASTERCARD OR AMEX card number. Any returned checks or rejected credit cards will automatically result in cancellation of registration, with no exceptions.

All fees paid will be recorded and deposited. Receipt of the fees does not indicate acceptance of your registration. You will be notified in April 2006 regarding your registration status. In the event your registration is not accepted, you will be given a full refund.

Lodging

You may request lodging reservations at the Red Lion, the official Parade Portland host hotel, and other nearby hotels where we have reserved room blocks at favorable rates, as part of the registration process. Do not contact the Red Lion directly, as they will not accept reservations other than through our registration process. Of course, you are free to obtain lodging elsewhere if you so desire. Additional hotel information is available here under the registration tab, or will be mailed to those requesting a paper registration form.

Check the Parade Portland schedule for yourself, but you will probably want to arrive in Portland on August 5. Since we have shortened Parade by one day, there will be quite a lot happening on August 6, the first official Parade Portland day, and you won’t want to miss any of it.

Changes, Transfers, Cancellations and Refunds

If you aren’t sure about everything when you register, do the best that you can. Online changes to some events can be made through June 15, 2006. However, be aware that there are capacity limits to various banquets and events, and they are subject to selling out if you wait too long.

Parade registrations are not transferable. Cancellations are eligible for a 50% refund of the registration fee, and 100% of the banquet and special event ticket fees, if requested before June 15, 2006. Cancellations after that date will not be eligible for any refunds. Please be aware that registration cancellations must be in writing to the Parade Pregistrars.  Email and phone cancellation requests are not accepted. Room reservations can be cancelled in accordance with individual hotel cancellation policies.
