7/11/2006 Volunteers still needed!

By now, if you signed up to volunteer, you should have received your assignment.  We still need help in a couple of areas.  If any of you would care to work the following please contact us at chuckhervey@sbcglobal.net.  Make sure you include your PARADE REGISTRATION NUMBER!!  Here are the assignments we still need to fill:

Rally – Tuesday 8/8, Day Shift 6-3
Gimmick Rally – Tuesday 8/8, 3 possible shifts, AM, PM, Late
PIR parking control – Needs every day Friday 8/3 to Friday 8/11 –  AM & PM shifts

See you at Parade,
Chuck and Judy Hervey

May, 2006: Volunteers, we need your help!

Volunteers are the formula to make Parade Portland a success. Every Parade event needs volunteers and volunteering is a wonderful way to meet other PCA members and to share in the fun and energy of Parade.

As with all PCA club events, the success of the event is directly proportionate to the number of volunteers assisting, Parade Portland is no different. Parade Portland is truly in need of volunteers in all aspects of the event. Perhaps it was the on-line registration that confused you, perhaps it wasn’t. What ever it was, we are asking for your support in filling out the Volunteer Sign Up forms and lending a hand with this wonderful event. If you have not already signed up,  PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE PARADE MAILER, and submit the Volunteer SIGNUP form by June 1st.

If you really don’t know what you would like to volunteer for, try signing up for an activity you would like to know more about. Taking this approach will allow you to learn through observation with the end result being either a satisfaction of curiosity or the creation of a desire to participate in the event at a later venue.

By volunteering to work at Parade Portland, you will receive a specially designed shirt to be worn while you work.  When you complete a shift, please have your Volunteer Worker card stamped.  A shift is between 4 to 6 hours, normally a morning (am) or an afternoon (pm) shift.  Work two shifts and you will be qualified to attend the Volunteer Worker Party on Friday August 11, to include a great lunch, time for socializing, and door prizes.  And, it’s free just for being a Parade Portland Volunteer Worker.  Children 14 years of age and over can volunteer for most events with the permission of their parents and at the discretion of the event chair.

If you are in the Portland area and would like to help now, please contact John Draneas at paradechair@paradeportland.org.  He can direct you to the committees who need help over the next few months before Parade.

Volunteer Information
Worker Shifts: A worker shift is defined as a period of 4 to 6 hours. A double shift is any work period over 6 consecutive hours and equals two shifts. Included is a schedule of events and times for which volunteers are needed. The schedule is based on the best information we have at this time. If it changes, you will receive adequate notice.

Please review the Parade Schedule and determine your available time slots to volunteer. Then review the Volunteer Schedule and let us know which events during those times you would like to work. If there are alternate events during that same time slot that would be your next choices, please put that in the Alt. Event columns. If there are no desired alternate events during that time slot, put your next choice on the next lines. We will fill your requests from top to bottom.

Shirts: Volunteer shirts will be ordered based on the initial response, so please indicate shirt size with your response.
